Operation Frodo 2025: A Holiday Rescue Mission From Omaha to the Pacific Northwest
Winter hits the Midwest like a sledgehammer, and every year far too many abandoned and at-risk dogs are left fighting to survive the cold. Operation Frodo is answering that call again this December, turning compassion into motion and horsepower into hope.
From December 13–17, 2025, more than 20 volunteer drivers, a caravan of rescue vehicles, and six supportive automakers will carry over 20 dogs nearly 2,000 miles from Omaha, Nebraska, to rescue partners and adopters in Utah and the Pacific Northwest. It’s the fourth holiday mission for this growing annual effort, and every mile is a lifeline.

This year’s convoy is supported by an extraordinary lineup: Volkswagen, Toyota, Subaru, Chrysler, INEOS, and Kia, with long-time logistics help from DriveShop. Their vehicles give these dogs safe, warm rides for the final stretch toward new beginnings.
A Season of Firsts
The 2025 mission welcomes a major new partner: The Asher House. Their team is joining the route to elevate awareness, provide care, and help prepare ten dogs for adoption. Returning rescue partners — Basset & Beagle Rescue of the Heartland, Utah Beagle Rescue, and Seattle Beagle Rescue — continue their commitment to saving and placing hounds who deserve better days ahead.
The Mission That Grew From One Dog
It started with Frodo, a single beagle who needed a ride to safety. What followed became a nationwide rescue tradition. Now in its fifth year, Operation Frodo has:
- Saved 65 dogs, with more joining this year.
- Expanded to a six-vehicle caravan carrying dogs, volunteers, and journalists westward.
- Built a national network of rescuers, supporters, and drivers who show up year after year.
It’s proof that one dog really can start something big.
